Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut has called for the resignation of Kenya’s Ambassador to China Sarah Serem for her silence and inaction over the mistreatment of Kenyans in China.
According to Chepkut Ambassador Sarah Serem owes Kenyans an apology.
“Sarah Serem should issue an apology to Kenyans then handover her resignation letter,” Chepkut said in a Tweet.
According to clips trending on social media, Kenyans are among Africans who have been ejected from their apartments and hotel rooms in Beijing.
Reports indicate Africans are being racially profiled and denied access to supermarkets and public transport. They are blamed for the rising cases of coronavirus in the country, a virus that originated from Wuhan, China.
Those affected have been forced to sleep out in the cold after failing to get any assistance from Kenya’s mission in Beijing.
Ambassador Serem has also been on the spot after Kenyan students living in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in China, said they were yet to receive the Sh11.3 million pledged by the government.
They accuse the embassy in Beijing of delaying the disbursement of the cash.
