Baringo County Government has allocated Sh200 million towards the fight against coronavirus in the county.
The funds were approved by the County Assembly on Thursday following a memorandum on Supplementary Appropriation Bill by Governor Stanley Kiptis.
The funds will support the county government’s effort on the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
From the funds, Sh70million will go towards food distribution for the vulnerable with Sh30 million going for water distribution.
Sh31 million has been allocated for rapid response while Sh69 million will be used to equip health facilities.
Governor Kiptis has lauded the county assembly for approving his memorandum saying the funds will boost the fight against Covid-19.
“I am gratified that Baringo County Assembly has approved the Governors’ memorandum on the supplementary Appropriation Bill thereby paving way for the release of Sh200 million to fight the pandemic,” said Kiptis.
He said the funds under the county emergency fund will be used to purchase food for the vulnerable as well as equip quarantine and isolation centres.
” It will also cater for water distribution and facilitate the County Covid-19 rapid response team,” he added.
