Turkana County Senator Malachy Ekal and Women Representative Joyce Emanikor have come out to dismiss reports that they tested positive for Covid-19.
Speaking during a press briefing at the county government headquarters on Thursday, the legislators sought to dismiss the reports which they termed as rumours.
They accused local politicians of trying to use the coronavirus pandemic to advance their political agendas.
“It is a shame that some politicians can use Covid-19 pandemic to try gain political mileage,” said Emanikor.
On his part, Senator Ekal said he was shocked to hear and read on social media that he is among MPs who have tested positive for Covid-19 yet he has been at his home relaxing.
“The information is false and malicious,” said Ekal.
The lawmakers were responding to rumours that have been circulated in the county that they were among Members of Parliament who allegedly tested positive for the deadly disease.
