Turkana Senator Prof Malachy Ekal has kicked off the donation of food and non food items to the most vulnerable people in the county in a bid to contain hunger in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking in Nakwamekwi in Turkana Central, the Senator said the food donations will target widows, orphans, the elderly, people with disabilities and the needy.
“We will be distributing food to the elderly, orphans, widows, the needy and those with disabilities,” he said.
Senator Ekal said his office is working with administration officers and village elders to help in identifying those who deserve help and in distribution to ensure the social distance rule is observed.
“My office is working closely with local administrators to identify the most vulnerable and to ensure there will be order during distribution,” he said.
The legislator said urged well-wishers to come on board and help the people of Turkana during the tough economic times occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.
