Kacheliba MP Mark Lomunokol has welcomed the establishment of Kacheliba Sub County as a new administrative unit.
According to the lawmaker, the new administrative unit, whose headquarters will be in Kacheliba, will bring services closer to citizens.
Lomunokol hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for the move, noting that it will also help solve insecurity challenges in his constituency which borders Uganda.
“North Pokot sub county was vast but the establishment of this new sub county will address insecurity at Kanyerus area and locals will now live peacefully,”he said.
He also pointed out that the issuance of Identification cards and other documents will now be easier and available at Kacheliba.
The new sub county headquarters will also be a recruitment centre for youth interested in serving in police or military force.
The establishment of the new unit in West Pokot County was made public vide a Gazette Notice No. 128.
Suam, Kodich and Kapchok wards will be under the new sub county.
