Eldoret-based blogger Isaac Yego and and his brother Emmanuel Kimutai will appear in court on Monday 27.
The two suspects are alleged posted on social media claims that Interior CS Fred Matiang’i was in ICU battling Covid-19.
They were arrested on Saturday by DCI detectives and taken to the DCI headquarters in Nairobi.
Speaking to the press, their lawyers Kipchumba Karori, Collins Kiprono and Dennis Wamalwa revealed that the two are being held at Muthaiga police station and will appear at Milimani law courts to take plea on Monday.
The legal representatives, who were accompanied by the Uasin Gishu Jubilee Party Organising Secretary Victor Bitok, defended the two bloggers and exuded confidence that they will be set free on Monday.
The two brothers have received backing from different parts of the country with political leaders accusing the Interior CS of abuse of power.
Here are Tweeter posts of some the leaders who have commented on the matter:
You entertain wet dreams of being president of Kenya, Yet when little boys misrepresent facts you abuse privilege n unleash all state power to hunt them down to rabbit holes ?
Do these jokers of state appointees understand how brutal politics is ?@WehliyeMohamed ? pic.twitter.com/x1kxpO9Hpn
