Community Health services in West Pokot County are set to improve following the signing into to law of a crucial Bill.
Governor John Lonyangapuo on Monday assented into law the County Community Health Services Bill 2019, which was ratified by the County Assembly.
West Pokot County Assembly Deputy Speaker Francis Kiprop accompanied by Assembly Health Committee Chair Patrick Lokomol were present to witness the signing to law of the Bill.
Governor Lonyangapuo said the Bill provides his administration with the legal framework to enable sustainable preventive health services at the community level.
“Today, I assented to the West Pokot County Community Health Service Bill 2019. This is an Act of the County Assembly of West Pokot to establish community Health Services and provide for the strengthening the level one health care system to enable sustainable preventive health services at the community level and for connected purposes,” said Lonyangapuo.
The signing into law of the Bill comes at a time when the Country is focused on improvement of healthcare as occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic.
