Turkana Senator Prof. Malachy Ekal Imana has said the indefinite suspension of Turkana University College Acting Principal Thomas Akuja is questionable.
In a statement though his social media pages, Senator Ekal said the Ministry of Education has not justified or given any reason to suspend the varsity principal.
The lawmaker said he reads malice in the suspension of Prof. Akuja and that the Ministry has intentions of replacing him with someone who will carry out its intentions.
“If the Ministry had good motives for TUC, they would not suspend Prof. Akuja for as long as they intend to and would not allow undesirable people to work at TUC. The ministry would respect the wishes of the community,” wrote the senator.
In January this year, Prof. Akuja was sent on compulsory leave with accusations of abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds and defying ministerial directives.
It is reported that he was directed by the then University Education Principal Secretary Collette Suda to reinstate Deputy Principal Administration, Finance and Planning Stephen Odebere and Corporate and Marking Officer Beatrice Akinyi Ondago but he declined saying the issue was in court.
