Locals in Kapseret have foiled a night attempt by police to arrest area MP Oscar Sudi.
In a dramatic event, citizen gathered outside Sudi’s compound where police had surrounded vowing not to allow the arrest of the legislator.
Locals and leaders have queried why Sudi was not arrested during the day.
At the time we went online, Leaders including Uasin Gishu Women Rep Gladys Boss Shollei and Former Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer had arrived at Sudi’s home to calm down the brewing tension.
Shollei, who double up as Sudi’s legal representative opposed attempts to arrest Sudi terming it unconstitutional.
Her sentiments have been backed by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who has pointed out if police wanted to arrest Sudi they should have done it in broad daylight when he addressed a rally at Eldoret town.
Oscar Sudi was in Eldoret town today addressing the public,if you wanted to arrest him,you should have done it then to be availed before court&processed.Going for him on a Friday night affirms the malice. You may disapprove of What Sudi said but we must defend his right to say it pic.twitter.com/PAHyMqd6xK
