Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday morning met with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
Senator Cherargei shared pictures of him after the meeting with DP Ruto and revealed that they had discussed the revenue sharing stalemate.
“Today in the morning held discussions with H.E Dr. William samoei Arap Ruto Deputy President of Kenya on the current senate Revenue formula stalemate and other issues of National importance,” Cherargei posted.
The two leaders have been holding different views over the revenue sharing formula.
Cherargei supports the third generation county revenue allocation formula under the banner ‘one man,one vote, one shilling’ while DP Ruto has maintained his stand for a win-win formula.
“For some of us, who believe in population based allocation formula, we are more determined in our resolve and when we resume our sitting on Tuesday, we will insist on the formula of equity, whose driving force being population,” Cherargei had said yesterday.
DP Ruto has insisted that the Senate should solve the stalemate surrounding the revenue-sharing formula without any county losing cash.
Senate resumes its sittings this afternoon with focus on counties’ cash sharing formula.
