Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has been awarded an honor by the Global Youth Parliament for his role in mentoring youth to actively participate in politics.
This is the second time, Governor Sang has received a special recognition, with the first time being in last year when he was recognized for his role in being a continental influencer on governance.
The latest award is for being an inspiration to the youth of Kenya.
While presenting him the Global Youth Leadership Award, the country coordinator of Kenya Gloria Orwoba-Bjerring said Sang being the youngest serving governor in Kenya continues to mentor the youth.
“Governor Stephen Sang of Nandi county is an inspiration to the youth of Kenya. At the age of 27 years, he dared to run for an elective seat as the Senator of Nandi County, competing and defeating his opponent who is a veteran politician. At the Senate, he holds the record of the only Senator in Kenya that sponsored the highest number of bills,”Global Youth Parliament stated.
“His ambition to push for impactful development in his community, had him running for governor. He is currently the youngest serving governor in Kenya and continues to mentor the youth to actively participate in politics,” it added.
In his acceptance, Governor Sang said he was humbled and will continue inspiring and mentoring youth to influence governance of the country.
