Youth Leader and Uasin Gishu Jubilee Organising Secretary General Victor Bittok has been released after spending a night at Langas Police Station.
The youth leader had been arrested on Friday night at Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi’s home when he joined leaders from the county who had gone to calm tension between security forces and locals.
Speaking after his release, Bittok said they had visited Sudi’s place to protest an injustice and pointed out that the night raid at the lawmakers home was uncalled for.
He lauded local leaders including Governors Stephen Sang(Nandi) Jackson Mandago(Uasin Gishu) MPs Gladys Boss Shollei (Uasin Gishu), Caleb Kositany(Soy) Former Uasin Gishu Speaker Isaac Terer and Advocate Christopher Mitei who stood with him following his arrest.
Youth from Kesses flocked had Langas Police Station to stand in solidarity with their leader and condemned the arrest which they termed unconstitutional.
The raid on Sudi’s home came after his hard-hitting remarks against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family. The controversial lawmaker also held a mega rally in Eldoret town where he castigated Uhuru allies of being behind the heist of Covid-19 funds.
