Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat has confirmed that Huruma Ward MCA Peter Kiiru Chomba succumbed to Covid-19.
In a statement, Speaker Kiplagat said they have received the official postmortem results that was conducted on the deceased.
He said the results confirm that the cause of death was coronavirus.
“We are all aware that we lost Hon. Peter Kiiru Chomba on the morning of 10th October 2020.
We wish to inform residents of Uasin Gishu and the general public that we have received the official post mortem results that was conducted on the deceased from the family that confirmed that the cause of death was Covid-19,” said Kiplagat.
He said following the results, all Members of County Assembly and staff will undergo testing for Covid-19 and will commence self isolation.
“In lieu of this information, Uasin Gishu County Assembly has commenced testing of all Honourable Members and Staff. Further, the County Assembly shall remain closed for Twenty-One (21) days starting today, 17th October 2020 to take all measures incidental to this information. During this period, all Honourable Members and Staff will be in self-isolation,” added the County Assembly Boss.
“We ask that everyone continues to follow the Ministry of Health Guidelines of washing hands and sanitizing, wearing of masks correctly and maintaining social distance,” he added.
Chomba died last week and his burial is scheduled for Wednesday 21st, 2020.
