West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has urged Pokot community living in Amudat district, Uganda, to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming polls.
Governor Lonyangapuo requested the Pokot community to support President Museveni as a sign of appreciation for peace and development initiatives in the district bordering Kenya.
The governor was speaking when he met 30 councillors who won party primaries in the ruling National Resistance Movement(NRM) at Karita town council.
During the meeting, Lonyangapuo called for peaceful campaigns ahead of the general elections scheduled for January, 2021.
“The campaigns should be conducted in a manner that will not jeopardise the peace being enjoyed by the Pokot, Kadama, Karamojong and Sebei communities living in Kenya and Uganda,” said Lonyangapuo.
Lonyangapuo later met reformed warriors, who are now engaging in business as a source of income, and donated 27 D-light solar kits to support them. He also donated 146 d-light kits to women doing business in the town.
