IEBC has announced that the Huruma ward by election will be held on 4th March 2021.
IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati on Wednesday ordered all interested political parties to issue the names of nomination candidates by 21st December 2020.
“The Commission calls upon all candidates intending to vie in the by elections to adhere to Ministry of Health protocols on containment of COVID-19 and the Commission’s protocols for conducting electoral activities in the COVID-19 context,” read part of the statement from Chebukati.
The Huruma ward seat fell vacant after its occupant; Peter Chomba collapsed and died at his home in Eldoret, after suffering breathing complications.
His family later confirmed that he died of Covid-19 and his funeral service, on October 21 was held in strict compliance with Ministry of Health protocols.
