Turkana County Governor Josphat Nanok on Friday launched the disbursement of Sh133 million Youth and Women empowerment fund.
Speaking during the launch of the fund at the Ekaales Centre in Lodwar town, Governor Nanok said all thirty (30) wards in the county will benefit from the fund with every ward getting at least Sh4 million.
Governor Nanok said the fund will be channeled to small registered groups at the grass root levels to empower both youth and women expand their businesses.
He reiterated that the County Government shall conduct a sensitization activity to all the benefiting groups to ensure a proper and orderly way of investing the funds.
He also said that if all this goes well, the benefiting groups will grow their capacity and shall qualify to get much bigger loans to expand their businesses.
However, the County Boss called on all stakeholders to partner with the county government to strengthen partnership in order to bring more resources that will benefit a majority of small businesses and attract more investors to the County.
