Baringo Central Member of Parliament Joshua Kandie has promised to donate an ambulance to each of the five wards in his constituency in a bid to boost access to health care service before he seeks fresh mandate during next year’s general elections.
Speaking at Tenges Health centre on Monday where he handed over one of the ambulances to Tenges ward, the MP stated that the utility vehicle was vital in reducing deaths from preventable diseases and conditions like snakebites and maternal health deaths.
“The thing that motivated me to embark on this journey of sourcing for the vehicles is that there are a lot of our residents who are losing their lives from minor diseases that can be handled by getting quick and accessible medical care,” he pointed out.
Kandie who has so far given out three of the five utility vehicles said that the ambulances will play a crucial role in offering assistance to patients recommended for specialized treatment to higher health facilities in Eldama Ravine, Kabarnet, Nakuru or Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.
Among the health centres that have benefitted from the gesture courtesy of the legislator’s Germany friends include Salawa, Kiptagich and Sacho.
