Former powerful Provincial Commissioner John Etemesi has died.
Etemesi who worked as a PC during Nyayo era died peacefully at his home in Sibanga, Cherangany constituency, Trans Nzoia after a short illness.
“The Mzee woke up well, took a shower, dressed in his nice suit and had his breakfast. No sooner had he called his driver to take him around than he collapsed and rested peacefully “a family member who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
Following his demise, several political leaders condoled with the family.
Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa said he was shocked by Etemesi’s demise.
“I have shockingly learnt with disbelief that Mzee John Etemesi has rested “he said.
“I had scheduled a meeting with him this week after my short conversation with him last week. I consulted this trustee of the Kitale club on politics, our youth empowerment and religion” Wamalwa said.
Wamalwa said Etemesi frequently invited him to ACK church in Sibanga where he (Etemesi) donated land for its establishment.
The MP severally visited the church during fundraising events.
He said the respected elder will be remembered as a true Christian, humble and respectable leader from Mulembe nation.
Area MP Joshua Kuttuny said he was saddened by Etemesi’s death.
“He was a dedicated leader and a servant who served with zeal and dedication throughout his carrier in administration. Mzee was a loving jovial person who interacted excellently with people of different class in the society “said Kuttuny.
“I send my condolences to his entire family, relatives, friends and residents of Sibanga Farm and the entire Cherangany Constituency” Kuttuny added.
Etemesi will be remembered for hosting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1983 while serving as Central Kenya Provincial Commissioner.
